ACJR submission to the Western Cape Provincial Police Ombudsman

Quality of victim support services and democratic policing

Campaign partner, Africa Criminal Justice Reform (ACJR) provided a written representation to the Office of the Western Cape Provincial Police Ombudsman regarding the investigation concerning allegations that the South African Police Service in the Western Cape Province was not providing the required level of services and support to protect and promote the rights of victims of crime in the Western Cape.

This submission offers a framework of democratic policing and highlights empathy and responsivity as key dimensions necessary for police to improve the quality of victim empowerment services, particularly in the Western Cape.
