Palestinians in Israeli prisons: oppression as a system

Prison Insider: Thousands of Palestinians are currently deprived of their liberty by the Israeli authorities, a figure that has risen sharply since 7 October 2023. Voices are raised every day to denounce the severe ill-treatment and numerous violations of international law. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) reported in July 2024 that many Palestinians had been imprisoned and subjected to treatment that may amount to torture.

Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association is a Palestinian non-governmental, civil institution that provides free legal aid to Palestinian people detained by the Israeli occupation and advocates for their rights at the national and international level. Addameer also works to raise awareness about torture and violations of the rights of people in prison, and to push for accountability.
