Prosecutors role in dealing with petty offences

This factsheet highlighted alternative options that a prosecutor can agree to with regard to petty offences. The factsheet advocates that diversion options embedded in the restorative justice approach are wellsuited to deal with minor crimes as they allow offenders to take responsibility for their offences without going in deeper into the criminal justice system with the risk of conviction and detention. The restorative justice process also offers victims an opportunity to heal and receive closure from their offenders through options.
