This keeps women out of prison

Established to address significant gaps in post-release support, From Now offers a rare combination of supported accommodation, child protection, intensive case management, and trauma-informed wraparound services specifically designed for women navigating the complex challenges of community reintegration.

Women exiting prison face extraordinary barriers including housing insecurity, disrupted family connections, untreated trauma, and limited access to coordinated healthcare. These challenges are particularly acute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, who are significantly overrepresented in the prison system and face additional systemic barriers upon release. The consequences of failed transitions extend beyond individuals to families and communities, with profound impacts on children and intergenerational wellbeing.

From Now directly addresses these challenges through a flexible, person-centred approach that prioritises
safety, cultural responsiveness, and dignity. The program’s distinctive methodology balances necessary
structure with individual autonomy, creating pathways to long-term stability while respecting women’s capacity for self-determination.
