CSOs call for repeal of Malaysia’s Sedition Act

A number of organizations sent a letter to Malaysia’s Home Affairs Minister and Minister of Law urging that the government repeal the Sedition Act, in advance of the hearing of Wan Ji. The letter was sent ahead of a now-postponed hearing before the Court of Appeal in which Islamic preacher Wan Ji, who was convicted under the Sedition Act in 2018, sought to challenge the law’s constitutionality.
