Resisting Transnational Surveillance: Building Solidarities across Asia and Africa (CANCELLED)

This event has now been cancelled.

Campaign members: Southern Africa Litigation Centre SALC (Africa) and the Criminal Justice and Accountability Project (South Asia) will be hosting a panel at RightsCon in May 2026 titled: Resisting Transnational Surveillance: Building Solidarities across Asia and Africa.

The session will build on joint research in preparation for litigation against companies that manufacture and sell surveillance technologies that are discriminatory in design or use. It will examine transnational surveillance linkages between South Asia and Eastern and Southern Africa, and how technology investments reinforce colonial constructions of criminality.
