“I have been selling assorted items for 32 years. I have a trading license but I still get arrested and charged with “shouting and blocking the road or even “placing articles”. I don’t even understand what kind of charge that is. They never charge me with selling without a license because I have one. To get the license, you have to pay KSh100,000 (US$1,000). I have a court order to stop the city inspectorate from arresting me and a warrant of arrest against the officers who harassed me, but I still get arrested. I am in and out of court, but no action has been taken against them. I am currently out on bail.”
