Tackling a Global Challenge: Strategic Priorities for the Global Campaign to Decriminalise Poverty and Status

Over the last year, the Global Campaign to Decriminalise Poverty and Status has expanded its remit from an exclusively African focus on decriminalising petty offences to a global effort pushing for the reform of laws, policies and practices that criminalise people based on poverty, status, and activism. This expansion was in recognition of the global nature of the challenge, and its disproportionate impact on marginalised groups, especially at the intersections of poverty, gender, race, caste, sexual orientation and identity.

The recently established Global Campaign Coordinating Committee (GCCC) has identified three strategic priorities to guide campaign actions over the next 24 months. Targeting existing and potential new Campaign members, this upcoming webinar will unpack these strategic priorities, approaches, advocacy targets and opportunities for engagement, as well as emerging workstreams and geographic areas of focus.
