To make a living, I carry goods from the market and sell bananas in the evening. I was arrested in the market, whilst waiting for a client. The county askaris appeared. They didn’t even talk to me. I was taken to court and charged with “idling” and sentenced to two weeks or a KSh2,000 fine ($20). I didn’t have enough to pay the fine. I had to serve my sentence. My family is suffering. They have no food and when I get home the landlord will be expecting rent.
