I was arrested for driving a tuk tuk with a worn-out tyre. I was then charged in court. I was only a driver, the tuk tuk wasn’t mine. I was sentenced to 10 months in jail or a 40,000 shilling (US$400) fine. I don’t have that kind of money. I have six children and my wife died. My neighbour is hosting my children and my landlord hasn’t evicted me. He is taking care of the house. The rent is 1,300 shillings ($13) and l will need 13,000 shillings ($130) to pay when I leave jail.
